Hello, NewMe!

My 1st post. I hope that it doesn’t suck too bad.

I may be a newbie to blogging but I am no newbie to weight loss (or gain).  As a kid I was always big and was never crazy about playing sports or being active.  My favorite hobby as a child was sitting in front of the tv eating snack foods and chips and I still miss those days.  Nobody really worried about my weight back then because they just assumed that I would just grow into my weight.  As I was to grow into my teens and my doctor realized that I wouldn’t be much taller 5′3 that with my weight back then, I would become a fat teen then a fat adult if a intervention wasn’t made.  My parents did their part my reducing the amount of junk food they gave me.  I did not like this and found ways to sneak junk food back in my life. Though my height didn’t change my weight continued to rise.  I wanted to be thinner then but I did not want to give up my unhealthy habits ether.

I was in the public library one day when was 14 and I picked up a book that eventually changed my life forever. It was called Toning for Teens.  I started following the routines in the book and saw my body change for the better. My favorite part of the book’s plan was that the routines took only twenty minuets a day and once I got the routines memorized I could do them while watching my favorite tv sitcoms.

It wasn’t until  about 2 years later that I  got to my desired weight loss goal. I lost the weight unconsciously by slowly adapting to many conscious healthy choices. During that time period I replaced soft drinks and juices with water, started walking more, ate more healthy foods, and joined a gym with my family.  All the while I continued to weight train and even added yoga and Pilates to my workout routine. Before I knew it I lost 30 pounds and I was at my lowest weight at 128 (though I looked much leaner because I had muscles from the weights) and I was the happiest and most energetic at that time.

This did not last very long because when I was 17 I got my first job and spent less time working out  fell back into so old habits and gained back all the weight I loss and to this day, at 20 years old I struggle to take off.

I know first hand that my weight might not reflect my actual lost (since I will continue to weight train) so I will post my current and starting bodily measurement.

Here they are:

Chest:37 inches

Waist:30.5 inches

Hips:38.75 inches

Right Upper Arm: 12. 75 inches

Left Upper Arm: 12 inches

Right Thigh:24.5 inches

Left Thigh: 24.5 inches

My starting weight is 153, a weight I have been maintaining for about the past year.

I am excited about this new phase in my weight loss journey.  I really hope that this excitement stays for a while because I know how important enthusiasm is for keeping up the motivation during the journey.
